I define myself as a perfectionist in recovery who endeavours to live in the present – the first step having been the recognition that I am good enough and that perfection is an unattainable non-reality.

I grew up in a family where contribution is important. As a child I remembered seeing both parents working hard to improve the outcomes for their communities. I have memories of people visiting our home at all hours seeking support from my mother who was a committed social worker. All of my career has been spent in service – especially to women and the advancement of women’s rights – as an activist, researcher, trainer, mentor, legal advisor, director, and board member.
I am a Certified Coach, international consultant, mentor and the Founder CEO of Tara Transform, a consultancy that has deep expertise in working in the development sector, especially on gender equality, non-profit strengthening and strategy.
I am deeply passionate about the potential of Women and Africa, addressing inequality, and committed to social change that values and recognises women’s rights and contributions. My conviction is that women should be able to claim their space anywhere.
My qualifications include a Master’s degree in Law and post-graduate certifications in Coaching, human resources, and business administration. My clients are individual women; national, regional and international funders, non-profits, foundations; and UN agencies who operate in Africa.
As a Board Leader, I have served on boards since 1999 and I have built deep expertise in governance, leadership and sustainabilityI have supported organisations in building effective governance practices, with capable leadership and impactful results. I give back through board services; as well as serving as a mentor to youth entrepreneurs at the African Leadership Academy and the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation.
